Best Anti Ageing Face and Body Oils

In this article I would like to share information about some of my favourite, precious, best anti ageing face and body oils. They are truly luxurious and precious, due to benefits they deliver, natural origin and safety to use. In my believe, luxury is not a sophisticated revolutionary formula with complicated chemical ingredients, but those delicious and fragrant elixirs that are ethically produced from natural sources, packed with fatty acids, natural vitamins and minerals – these are essential nutrients, that are vital for our skin to regenerate and look fresher and younger. Most of the natural oils on our planet are high in antioxidants, so nearly each one of them has anti ageing properties. However in this article I would like to highlight those with exceptional anti-ageing properties due to exceptionally high content of antioxidants and fatty acids. These are vegetal and plant oils, not essential oils. I will cover the difference between them and essential oils in my other articles. I hope from this selected list you will find your “best friend”, the one that suits your skin type perfectly. To identify the most effective oils, you need to try them, as even the same skin types might still react differently to the same oil due to many personal physiological factors of the skin.

Cactus Fig Seed Oil (Prickly Pear)

This oil is the most precious and expensive of all oils in the world. The cactus fig seeds have only 5% oil in them, so it makes extraction difficult. This oil is exceptionally high in vitamin E (much higher than Argan oil, they say it is 150% higher) and linoleic acid, active minerals and amino acids; it penetrates very deeply and has very light texture. This unique oil will satisfy demand of modern women and men who are looking for light textured and fast absorbing moisturizers due to busy lifestyle. Cactus fig seed oil is perfect to use for under eye area and as a make up base. It is excellent for all skin types, even oily skin. It is powerful anti-ageing oil, which plumps up wrinkles due to high content of fatty acids. This oil is excellent for sensitive skin, as it soothes irritation. Cactus fig seed oil has a small downside to it comparing to all its huge benefits: it has not very pleasant smell, however it depends on producer. Smell factor explains why many producers blend it with essential oils. In order to get the most of its anti-ageing benefits, I would advise using pure cactus seed oil, just adding few drops of essential oil into bottle. The choice of essential oils should be done based on benefits you want to add: for example to add purifying, calming or more of anti ageing properties to your blend.

Good for: Oily Skin, Dry Skin, and Sensitive Skin, Normal Skin and Ageing Skin.

Argan Oil (Moroccan Oil)

This oil has a beautiful golden color and sometimes it is called “liquid gold”. Argan oil has a mild odor when its pure, and feels very silky to the touch. It is produced from kernels of Argania Spinosa Tree in Morocco, hand – pressed and is one of the most expensive oils. This oil is extremely popular now and many skin care manufacturers add this oil into their products. However, I would advise you to buy only 100% pure argan oil in order to get maximum benefits for your skin and hair. It contains extremely high level of vitamin E (known as essential antioxidant) and fatty acids, which are important for preventing premature ageing caused by oxidation, fights free radicals damage and UV radiation damage. Argan Oil is also great for healing scars due to phytosterols content. Those healthy phytosterols help to repair skin and hair. This oil also has anti-inflammatory properties and is perfect for sensitive skin. But do not expect an overnight miracle, do not forget that this is a natural product and it needs time to work, especially with such difficult skin condition as scarring.

Good for: Dry Skin, Sensitive Skin, Normal Skin, Scalp and Hair. Works well for oily skin and reduces irritation, however individual contra results are possible.

Moringa Seed Oil

This oil is obtained by pressing seeds of Moringa Oleifera tree, sometimes called “Tree of Life”, as widely used in folk medicine and they say that moringa is the most nutrient plant in the world. The seeds contain 40% of oil. This oil has pale yellow color, odorless, but I could pick up extremely light bitter odor, it was hardly noticeable and did not disturb senses. First time I tried this oil was when I purchased Elemis Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules, which also contain pure moringa oil. I enjoyed the texture and wonderful result of smoother looking skin. The next time I purchased a full bottle of pure moringa oil from one of the herbal shops. It is not cheap comparing to many other oils in the market and here is why. This oil is light and rich in vitamins A and C, unsaturated fatty acids and because it has great amount of oleic acid, it penetrates skin very deep and delivers phenomenal nutrients of moringa oil into the skin. It balances secretion of sebum in skin, fights toxins, which makes it great in diminishing pollution effects on the skin. This oil is often used in high-end anti-ageing cosmetics; it doesn’t become rancid for several years after production due to high concentration of antioxidants. This nutritious oil is perfect for face, scalp and hair.

Good for: Oily Skin, Dry and Sensitive Skin, Scalp and Hair. Great as leave in conditioner for hair and scalp and can be used as hot oil treatment, relives irritated scalp and helps damaged hair.

Rosehip Seed Oil

This beautiful dark yellow or slightly reddish color oil has mild bitter odor, and is very popular oil; very light in texture, does not leave greasy residue, if used in moderate amount and doesn’t clog pores. It is known for its soothing effect and ability to help the skin regenerate. Rosehip oil is very high in vitamin A, vitamin E and essential fatty acids omega 3 and 6, which protect skin from free radicals and ageing. Also, due to high content of vitamin C, this oil has skin brightening and corrective benefits. It is great wrinkle preventing oil, which is also known for treating skin conditions like pigmented skin, scars and soothing psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. Rosehip oil is safe for use on children. Please be ware that this oil mostly consists of unsaturated fatty acids, so it doesn’t have long shelf life, so use it frequently when you open your new bottle.

Good for: Oily Skin and Skin prone to acne, Normal skin, Sensitive Skin, Dry Skin, Mature Skin.

Camellia Seed Oil (Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil), beauty secret of Japanese women

When I first tried camellia oil, it was Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil Blend. However it was not pure camellia oil, it was blended with almond oil, but the blend was great, super light and silky. It is nearly odorless oil, just with a hint of a very slight herbal aroma. In Japan women have used camellia oil for centuries for skin, nails, hair and sculp. It is light textured oil and easily absorbed, very silky to the touch, rich in plant collagen. This is ideal oil for combination, dry and sensitive skin and it helps to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Camellia oil is a great anti-ageing product and sometimes called “Miracle Oil” as it gives silkiness to the skin, diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. This oil contains monosaturated oleic acid (about 80%), palmitic acid (about 7.5%), so it has quite long shelf life, it also contains vitamins A,B,C,E and tea polyphenols, which detoxify skin.

Good for: Combination Skin, Normal Skin, ideal for Dry Skin and Sensitive Skin, Nails, Hair and Scalp and entire body, as improves skin elasticity.

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is one of the most deeply penetrating oils due to content of monosaturated fatty acids, as it penetrates down to deeper epidermis (we have 5 layers in our epidermis). If you have dry or dehydrated skin on your face or you have rough knees, elbows and hair, I highly recommend this oil for you! This oil has slightly greenish color and feels quite thick to the touch, however it is close to our skin sebum in composition (and that’s why does not clog the pores), so it fully absorbs in a while, if used correctly in a thin layer. Please note, that if this oil is refined, it will have light green color, be less thick in texture and have less smell, but if it is pure unrefined oil, these characteristics will increase. This oil is very rich in vitamin A (it is a good natural alternative to retinol) so it is just great for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and also rich in vitamins B, C, D, E, and K.

Because avocado oil contains sterolin, it helps with healing inflammation and eczema and has anti-bacterial and anti-wrinkle properties. It is wonderful repair oil for your skin making it thicker and boosting elasticity.

Good for: Normal skin, Dry and Sensitive Skin, Dehydrated and Mature Skin, Hair and Scalp, Body. Can be used as pre-wash hair conditioner. Can work for oily skin used at night, especially if it is dehydrated (even oily skin can be dehydrated), but contra results are possible depending on personal skin condition and factor.

Grape Seed Oil

This oil is very famous for anti-ageing benefits. It is full of linoleic acid, which is great for oily skin, this oil is very light in texture. If you have age spots or pigmented skin or acne, this oil would be the right choice for you. Grape Seed oil also contains lots of antioxidants and has great anti-inflammatory and slight astringent (skin tightening and toning) properties. It is great oil for prevention and cure of acne. Another great ability of this oil is to treat under eye circles and minimize fine lines and prevent deeper wrinkles. This product is easy to find and it usually does not cause irritation. Grape seed oil does not clog the pores, but for very congested oily skin you may want also to try hemp oil and chose the one the suits you better.

Good for: Oily Skin, Sensitive Skin, Dry Skin.

Borage Seed Oil

Borage (Borago officinalis) Borage flowers and leaves taste like cucumbers and they are widely used in European cousin. Borage wild flower seeds are pressed to produce oil very high in gamma-linoleic acid (GLA). This oil is used widely in skin health benefits.

Due to high content of GLA, borage oil is said to help with rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, rosacea, acne and psoriasis, helps to restore damaged skin, and helps for hair loss. Be ready that is has a specific smell, so I would advise using it before bedtime. Borage oil is also sold in capsules as supplements, so you can use it internally or punch a capsule and use oil externally on your skin. And as per feedback of those who have had acne, it helps to cure it. Regenerative properties of borage seed oil make it a perfect choice for anti-ageing skin care. To summarize the benefits of this oil: regenerative, firming, soothing and moisturizing.

Good for: Oily and Acne Skin, Sensitive Skin, Dry Skin Scalp and Hair and Nails (as has antiseptic properties)
